The History of the Park and City Partnership

In 2012 The City of Pinellas Park dedicated a 10-acre site that was originally donated to the City by Dr Lurie to be used as the home to The Wounded Warriors Abilities Ranch. The City allocated a $1.1M budget to start the building and in January 2018, headed by County Commissioner Charlie Justice,Ā The City Park secured funds from a BP Award of $250000. During that summer construction ramped up and the park formally opened to the Public on September 1st 2018.

WWAR has worked hand in hand with the City to obtain Grants and donations for facilities at the Park including a Pavilion donated by the Armed Forces families Foundation and one donated by The Rotary Club . WWAR has funded through donations the multi purpose court and the Dog Park and working together with the City we have obtained grants to build Ā the adaptive outdoor multi purpose Gym and Military Children’s Playground .

Once built, Ā WWAR will be responsible for the Building and Operational costs of the Head Quarters and the building of the Memorial garden.

Updates From The Park

Help Build Our Park

The WWAR offers a wonderful opportunity to gift a piece of the Park or HQ, or buy an item for the Park in honor of a loved one or as a legacy. An engraved dedication can be made on the item to recognize the contribution. All gifting has the option of being a private donation.

Donation of Materials and Services

In order to get the Park and Ranch built, WWAR and the City need to procure many services and a vast array of construction materials, landscaping and sports equipment. WWAR is looking for help from businesses and private donors any services, materials or equipment that can be utilized to build the Park or be used by the Ranch. These will be tax deductible.
